‘Not just one more phone case.’
Idea
We want to present a case for mobile phones, “FRED the SmartFrog”. This case looks like a cute toy with some pretty serious built-in functionality. Our main goal was to make an original case for mobiles, aimed at children and teenagers, which would have several functions:
We want to present a case for mobile phones, “FRED the SmartFrog”. This case looks like a cute toy with some pretty serious built-in functionality. Our main goal was to make an original case for mobiles, aimed at children and teenagers, which would have several functions:
- The case would protect the phone from getting damaged if dropped

It would have storage space for earphones

The case would be bright and noticeable so that the child would not forget or lose his phone
- The case would look cute and unique to others (children enjoy amazing people around them).

Structure
The case is made from two parts – a soft solid rubber outer cover and a hard plastic case. These different materials serve different purposes. Rubbery soft casing imitates the frog's body – we ensured that the rubber's texture, density and elasticity are as close as possible to the feel of a real frog's body.
Since the rubber is elastic, the top part of the case can be bent back to allow access to the camera. At the same time, the tough internal plastic part securely holds the phone inside the case. After the photos have been taken, the top part of the frog can be easily returned back to its original place. The earphones can be securely stored in a compartment inside and accessed through the mouth of the toy.

The frog can be given its name, making him a real pet. :) By default, we have called our froggy FRED because it sounds like FRIEND (actually, it stands for FRiendly Emotional Design).
The cute little app allows you to set a ringtone and alarm with the frog sounds. This app completes the illusion of a real frog and makes your Fred alive. Also, it will be exciting to discover different frog songs. Each sound is accompanied by a beautiful illustration and short text block describing the place of living and the main features of that kind of frog.
