ZEN perfume packaging design
The goal was to develop bottle shapes and packaging for a series of fragrances «Zen». The main objective was to emphasise the fragrances' naturalness and to strengthen the eastern meditative mood contained in the word Zen.

‘Synthesis of organic shapes and glass bottles.’
Solution
To meet the goal, we have decided to derive the idea of bottle shapes from existing organic forms. The packaging concept of "ZEN" perfumes synthesises organic shapes and perfume bottles. The organic shape is dominant in this tandem, and a small piece of glass carries a functional purpose – to observe the remaining liquid/perfume level.
Tactile sensations are significant when the package is being held in hands. The glass fragments' smoothness makes the plastic packaging's texture and density appear and feel natural, just like a real stone, bamboo or shell. The main objective of the packaging was to highlight the natural character of this line of perfumes and is entirely consistent with the idea of Zen – calmness, contemplation and natural beauty.
Outer cardboard packaging is deliberately made simple and ascetic, so when it's opened, the elegance of the natural shape of the bottles is emphasised.

Materials & construction
Bottles are made of two main parts - a glass container for perfume and an imitation of a natural object made of textured plastic. The plastic form is placed on the bottle and is sealed with glue, so they both form a single object. The texture and density of the plastic form, mimic the look and feel of authentic natural material.
